Julie Knight

Credentialled Diabetes Educator (CDE), Registered Nurse 

Julie Knight is a highly experienced Registered Nurse and Credentialled Diabetes Educator (CDE), having completed a Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Education and Health Care at Mayfield Education in 2008. She is a member of the Australian Diabetes Educators Association and has extensive experience across both public and private healthcare sectors. 

Julie specialises in providing individualised diabetes education and support for people living with Type 1, Type 2, Gestational Diabetes, Pre-Diabetes (including Impaired Fasting Glucose and Impaired Glucose Tolerance), and insulin resistance conditions such as Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). 

With a strong interest in diabetes technology, Julie is experienced in insulin pump therapy and Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM). She is a certified trainer for a range of devices including Medtronic, Tandem t:slim X2, YpsoPump with CamAPS FX, Omnipod DASH and Omnipod 5, Dexcom CGM, and Freestyle Libre. She provides detailed training and data interpretation to help clients maximise the benefits of these tools. 

Her approach empowers clients to make informed decisions about their diabetes management and lifestyle. Areas of expertise include: 

· Lifestyle counselling (Smoking, Nutrition, Alcohol, Physical Activity, Wellbeing, Goal Setting, Health Coaching) 

· Carbohydrate counting to support flexible insulin dosing 

· Low-carbohydrate lifestyle support 

· Medication education: oral, insulin and injectable therapies 

· Improving CGM Time in Range and blood glucose interpretation 

· Hypoglycaemia and prevention and management 

· Prevention of complications and diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) 

· Assistance with NDSS registration, CGM access, and insulin pump commencement and support 

Julie collaborates closely with Endocrinologists, General Practitioners, Dietitians, Exercise Physiologists, Podiatrists, and Psychologists to ensure holistic care for her clients. 

Appointments are available at two clinic locations, with self-referral, GP, Allied Health, and Endocrinologist referrals welcome. Telehealth consultations are also available.
