Chris Van Der Pluym is a dedicated practitioner with over six years of hands-on experience in mental health recovery and drug and alcohol addiction support. He provides tailored, person-centred care to individuals facing complex challenges, including substance dependence, co-occurring mental health conditions, and social disadvantage. Committed to harm reduction and recovery-oriented practice, Chris helps clients rebuild their lives with dignity, resilience, and purpose.
His work includes one-on-one counselling, group facilitation, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and engagement with families and community networks to support sustainable recovery. He is skilled in trauma-informed care, relapse prevention, motivational interviewing, and strengths-based approaches that empower clients on their healing journey.

Chris also brings eight years of teaching experience and a strong academic foundation, holding a Master of Social Work (RMIT), Master of Teaching (La Trobe), and Bachelor of Social Science (Swinburne). He is especially passionate about working with youth and individuals at early stages of change, helping them set meaningful goals and build lasting self-confidence.
Outside of work, Chris values balance—he enjoys staying active, spending time outdoors, exploring good food, and being with his dogs.
